Food coloring:
Canthaxanthin can also be used in jam, candy, syrups, sauces, carbon dioxide drinks and other foods, as a colorant. However, canthaxanthin is more commonly used in animal feed than as a food coloring agent.
Tanning pill:
Canthaxanthin is also related to sun-tanning pills, which are popular abroad. Due to its antioxidant properties, it has been suggested that taking keratoxanthin may increase the skin's ability to resist UV rays. Because ingestion can accumulate in the fat layer of the skin and give the skin a tan like change. Some tanning agents use this natural pigment, but it is not approved by the FDA.
