Description:

Citric acid is widely used in various nutritional oral liquids, buffering pH 3.5-4.5, maintaining the stability of active ingredients, and enhancing the effectiveness of preservatives.

Citric acid reacts with sodium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate aqueous solutions to produce a large amount of CO2 (i.e. effervescent) and sodium citrate, which can quickly dissolve active ingredients in drugs and enhance taste ability. For example, making laxatives and painkillers have solubilizing effects. Citric acid syrup is a refreshing beverage used by febrile patients, which has the effects of correcting taste, cooling, and detoxifying.
